I had saved the original installer from when I first purchased Total Protection, and it turns out that the 1st thing that it does is remove any McAfee software that it finds.

Well, borrowed it and won't give it back. And McAfee has stolen my credit card info. I'll continue to search for ways to get rid of it. The installer program it installed is incompatible with the OS and should never have been installed. It has installed itself in a way that I cannot remove.

Tech support's solution is to reimage to a new OS and download their new version. Now 3 months in, the weekly virus scan slows the system so much that I am forced to reboot, and I'm not even being really protected since the updates are consistently failing. I had noticed that this product was significantly slower than Norton's right away after install, but kept going since this was significantly less expensive.
